D.C.-area restaurants rank on list of nation's top-grossing in 2013

WASHINGTON (WJLA) - Several independent Washington-area restaurants ranked among the nation's top grossing in 2013 - including No. 3 in the country.

WTOP reports that Old Ebbitt Grill in D.C. brought in the third-highest profits for an independent restaurant in the U.S. last year, at a whopping $26.7 million in sales.

The restaurant reportedly sold around 600,000 meals last year, according to Restaurant Business.

Old Ebbitt Grill is one of the District's oldest restaurants, dating back to around 1856. The restaurant has 500 seats.

The restaurant is not alone, though - several D.C.-area restaurants made the rankings:

34. Sequoia, $15 million

71. Tower Oaks Lodge in Rockville, Md., $11.8 million

82. Jackson;s Mighty Fine Food & Lucky Lounge, Reston, Va., $11.2 million

94. Coastal Flats, Fairfax, Va., $10.6 million

100. Sweetwater Tavern, Falls Church, Va., $9.9 million
