Stroke awareness: warning signs and preventative measures
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
Every forty seconds, someone in the United States suffers a stroke – that’s nearly 800,000 people a year. This Stroke Awareness Month we’re making sure you know the signs to be aware of and how you can help minimize your risk. MedStar’s Dr. Alexander Dromerick and stroke survivor Lee Stroy discussed symptoms and prevention efforts, in addition to the new documentary they worked on, "A Teachable Moment." The film follows four strangers who find common ground after having a stroke and "offers lifestyle choices to lower risk and empower viewers with the knowledge that strokes are preventable, treatable and beatable."
