In a study released last year by Statistic Brain, it was reported that 81 percent of 10-year-olds are afraid of gaining weight, 42 percent of first through third-grade girls want to be thinner, and 90 percent of 15 to 17-year-old girls want to change at least one aspect of their physical appearance. The numbers are disheartening, to say the least. Mothers Carolina King and Ashley Bernardi discussed their concerns and offered ways to better encourage a positive body image in young girls.
