7 ways to communicate effectively with people who live with disabilities
WASHINGTON (ABC7) —
October is National Disability Awareness Month, and while people with disabilities face daily obstacles, Ellen Shackleford says the biggest barriers often begin with other people’s attitudes. She’s the president of Connections Access Consulting Services and shared seven ways to effectively communicate with people who live with disabilities. Shackleford became disabled in an auto crash that also caused the death of her youngest son Raymond in 1983. She is passionate about educating and raising awareness about the 56 million Americans who live with a disability. For more information, visit her website.
