7News Salutes March 2023 Special
7News Anchor Jonathan Elias hosts this March 2023 7News Salutes Special, which honors our military servicemembers as well as local people and organizations dedicated to helping the military community.
This special highlights:
- Folds of Honor, a charity started 15 years ago that awards scholarships to those families that have lost someone while serving in the military
- Legacy Expeditions, which had a team of 9 former U.S. and Canadian military servicemembers who broke four world records for skydiving, after they completed seven jumps in seven continents in just six days, six hours and six minutes.
- Vetoga, a non-profit designed to provide yoga and healing arts to active duty servicemembers, first responders and veterans
- A new plaque at the National WWII Memorial with an inscription of a prayer President Franklin Delano Roosevelt led on D-Day June 6, 1944
- Mission Roll Call, a non-profit lobbying on behalf of veterans
- Willing Warriors Retreat in Haymarket, VA
- Catch A Lift, a group that helps post-9/11 combat veterans heal from seen and unseen injuries through fitness and nutrition
- Kaya, a service dog who helped inspire the Paws Act signed in 2021 which helps fund service dogs for wounded servicemembers
