Winter Weather Advisory, Winter Storm Warning issued for parts of D.C. area

(WJLA) - Winter Weather Advisories and a Winter Storm Warning have been posted for several counties in the greater Washington area.

A Winter Storm Warning for Frederick County and points west will go into effect on 5 a.m. Saturday and stretch through 1 a.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service expects snow, sleet and freezing rain to fall on the area.

They expect the highest amounts of accumulation to take place near the Mason-Dixon Line.

Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for the same time period in Montgomery, Howard and Loudoun counties.

A wintry mix and some snow are expected to enter the greater D.C. area early Saturday morning. Accumulations in the immediate D.C. area are not expected to be large, if there's any at all.
