Hottest day of week with higher humidity, possible afternoon Thunderstorm on Thursday

Weather graphic (Veronica Johnson/ABC7)

Thursday will be the hottest day of the next several days. Highs will top out in the upper 80s, but with higher humidity it will feel more like the low 90s. Expect a good bit of cloud cover with an isolated thunderstorm possible Thursday afternoon and evening. Have your StormWatch7 app with you, if you'll be out at the Washington Nationals game this evening.

Our next big weather maker is an area of low pressure that will slide in and spin over the area Friday and Saturday bringing waves of rain and much cooler temperatures.

Have the rain gear Friday and Saturday. An isolated shower is possible for the morning drive with more widely scattered rain and storms around and after lunchtime. Some areas will get much more rain than others. It all depends on where these bands set up.

Stay weather alert Friday afternoon and evening through Saturday with flooding possible. Remember to never drive through standing water. Some neighborhoods could see 2 to 3 inches of rain.

Sunday looks spectacular, but unseasonably cool for the last weekend of July. Highs Saturday will only reach the low to mid 70s. We'll reach around 80 degrees Sunday.

Next week will start warming up back to more seasonable levels, as we head into August, with highs back into the upper 80s.
