We hit 96 again yesterday for the second day in a row, tying our hottest temperature reading from Monday! Expect more of the same with afternoon highs in mid to upper 90s through Friday and feels like readings from near 100.
There still remains a slightest chance of a passing shower but any action will mainly be confined west of the region, in the mountains.
A cold front arriving Saturday will bring our greatest chance for scattered thundershowers and some could be strong to severe. Temperatures drop to seasonable levels, upper 80s for Sunday with a shower or storm still possible. Stay cool and have a great day!
Code Orange Air Quality is expected today through Friday in the D.C. area, which means not only will the dangerous heat continue, but the air will also be unhealthy for sensitive groups including children, the elderly and anyone with heart or breathing difficulties.
