Washington, D.C. Weather Forecast: Turning Up the Heat This Week

This Afternoon:Partly to Mostly Cloudy, Isolated T-Shower Highs: Upper 80s Wind: S 5-10 Tonight:Partly Cloudy Lows: Around 70 Wind: S 4-8 Tuesday:Partly Sunny, Isolated T-Storm Highs: Low 90s Wind: S 10-20

High pressure sliding off the coast will bring southerly winds today and help bring our temperatures up the next few days. The Fourth of July week typically brings hot and steamy weather and this week will be no exception leading up to the holiday. Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day.{ } Most of us will have a dry Monday with a mix of sunshine and clouds.{ } An isolated thunderstorm is possible, mainly west of the metro.{ }

This Afternoon
A cold front in the Midwest will trigger a severe weather threat, especially in Eastern Iowa and parts of Illinois.{ } That front will bring us wet weather in the Mid-Atlantic in the middle of the week.{ } In the meantime, we are keeping an eye on the tropics.{ } An area of low pressure off the Central Florida coast will likely become the first tropical storm of the season. If so, it will be named Arthur.{ } That system will approach the Mid-Atlantic by the end of the week.{ } We'll have to keep an eye on the beaches, but right now I don't think it will bring bad weather West of the Chesapeake Bay. Stay tuned for updates!
