A strong cold front will approach the mid-Atlantic from the west bringing an increased risk for showers and a few thunderstorms. The front will cross the region starting in western Maryland and moving offshore by 8:00 Monday morning. Overnight temperatures will hardly budge, holding in the upper 50s to middle 60s. Wind gusts may exceed 30 miles per hour.
After the front clears, Monday will be mild with abundant afternoon sunshine. Look for highs in the District to approach the middle to upper 60s with cooler air in the mountains. Winds will likely gust above 20 miles per hour and much colder air will arrive Tuesday with highs only in the 40s.
