This will lead to a high likelihood of more numerous showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening and some could be severe. In addition they could contain some heavy downpours as Arthur helps funnel in some tropical moisture! A Flash Flood Watch is up for the region today.

Speaking of Arthur, he became the first hurricane of the season as of 5 a.m.! He will be moving northward just offshore of the Carolina Coastline. The Outer Banks of NC will get a brief brush of hurricane conditions; Mid-Atlantic beaches may have brief Tropical Storm conditions. Rapid clearing and improvement is expected during the day Friday. Friday night through Sunday should be just fine in our area and at the beaches, too. Dangerous surf conditions at the beaches Thursday through Friday, with a strong rip current.
