Very hot and humid conditions continue today and only ease a bit on Thursday. High pressure residing over the Western Atlantic is pumping in very warm and humid air and hence a Heat Advisory is issued for the immediate metro area from Noon until 7 p.m. for heat index values “feels like” temperatures near 105°.A look at the heat advisory in effect.
At the same time, a cold front and associated upper level energy is making slow but steady progress along a line from Lake Erie southwestward to Missouri. So the heat and humidity will persist and chances scattered heavy thunderstorms will slowly increase for the next couple of days. All the while, we will be monitoring Tropical Storm Arthur now located about 100 miles ESE of Cape Canaveral, FL with top winds of 69 mph. The Outer Banks could have significant effects from Arthur by early Friday morning. Have a great day!
