A lot to talk about in the weather department today with heat, storms and a tropical storm!{ } We start with the heat as we already started the day warm around 80 degrees.{ } A heat advisory is in effect for D.C, along the I-95 corridor, and Southern Maryland for a "feels like" temperature between 100-105.{ } When there is high heat, check the backseat!!! Don't leave the kids or pets in the car.

This Afternoon

Showers and thunderstorms will develop late today and this evening ahead of a cold front. Some of those storms may produce damaging winds and hail.{ } All of our area and much of the northeast has an elevated risk.{ } While today will be the hottest day of the week, tomorrow will likely be the wettest.{ } The Mid-Atlantic will be sandwiched between the cold front and Tropical Storm Arthur.{ } There is the potential for heavy downpours with localized urban flooding. The tropical storm will make it's closest approach to us on the Fourth of July, but it will only bring some morning showers to D.C.{ } The beaches will have gusty winds and rough surf.{ } High threat of rip currents Thursday, Friday and Saturday.{ } Keep an eye on the flags at the beaches this weekend if you're heading out.
