Another day and we are yet again in the midst of another arctic plunge! Cold and gusty winds have ushered in a batch of bitter cold air with wind chills below freezing to start the day and a Wind Chill Advisory in effect until 10am for the entire area. Sunshine will be limited today with highs around 20º but it will feel colder with the gusty winds. Meanwhile a southern winter storm will bring a variety of winter precipitation across a large part of the Gulf Coastal States, Georgia and the Carolinas. We do not expect any of the precipitation to affect the metro area at this time, but there are advisories as close as the northern neck. The encouraging news is that temperatures will moderate during the second half of the week as the high-pressure cell shifts eastward and our winds become southerly. Stay warm and have a great weekend!
