Washington D.C. Forecast: Few strong storms before a brief return to winter

WIND ADVISORY metro-wide goes into effect at 6PM this evening until 11AM tomorrow for gusts to near 50mph.

COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY from 11AM to 5PM for Anne Arundel, Calvert & St Mary for tide high tides 1 to 11/2 feet above normal.

Yesterday we hit 72º at Reagan National – the last time that happened was 78 days prior! Becoming cloudy, windy and warm today as temperatures peak near 70º before a potent cold front crosses the area. Expect afternoon showers and possible strong storms with wind gust being the biggest threat.

Once the severe threat diminishes the winds will continue to howl as we see a 45°+ temperature drop into the night. Winds could gust to 50mph late night into the early portion of Thursday. Highs will only reach the 30s and with a feels like reading in the single digits in the morning and teens by late-day. Warmer air returns Friday and Saturday with just the slight chance for a sprinkle to start the weekend. Please stay weather aware later today and have a great one!
