Temperatures were well below the average this morning of 33 degrees.{ } A very cold air mass that was in the arctic just three days ago will settle into the D.C region later today and Friday.{ } It will be windy with the frontal passage and we could have gusts around 25mph this afternoon and early evening. Winds diminish overnight and the coldest day of the week will be Friday with highs flirting around the freezing mark.{ } Our average high is 50 degrees and we won't get very close to it for the next week and a half.{ } Best chance to get close will be on Sunday ahead of a storm system that is in the Pacific right now.{ } It's bringing much needed (but too much at once) rain to drought ridden California.{ }

Pacific Storms
By the time it reaches us, I think temps will be warm enough that most of it will be rain. However, cold air may get wedged up to the mountains in our area early next week and bring some wintery mixed weather to start it off.{ } Too soon for specifics, but we'll watch closely and keep you updated.
