A WIND ADVISORY is in effect along and west of the Blue Ridge from midnight until 8 am Friday for gusts up to 50 mph.

A strong area of low pressure is moving across the Great Lakes. A cold front extends southward from the low center and will approach our area laearly Friday{ }and only slowly move across the region. Isolated showers will become more numerous overnight. Very strong winds are likely west of the Washington area. But heavy rain squalls and isolated thunderstorms could pull some very high wind gusts down to the surface, especially tomorrow morning. It will be quite warm again tomorrow and there may even be some afternoon sunshine.

By Saturday morning the front will be just east of Washington and a wave may develop along the front. This could mean Saturday may turn out to be a rather cloudy day. With high pressure returning Sunday, much cooler air will arrive under partly to mostly sunny skies.
