A FLASH FLOOD WATCH in effect until midnight for the extended Metropolitan Washington and Baltimore areas.
A weak cool front is crossing the region and has set the stage for the development of slowly moving thunderstorms. While the largest area of heavy rain will stay south and east of our region, the storms that do form will produce very heavy rainfall and when coupled with their relatively slow movement, there is the potential for localized flash flooding through tonight…especially in those areas that experience more than one storm. Improving weather conditions develop tomorrow and Saturday with plenty of sunshine. It will be warmer and more humid by Sunday with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
