It has turned into a very pleasant evening across the region. Partly cloudy skies will continue ovenight, HOWEVER, I am watching an area of rain and thunderstorms over SW Virginia. It is not out of the question a few of these showers could reach parts of our area by early tomorrow morning. Otherwise, a partly sunny, hot and humid day is on tap for tomorrow. Afternoon thunderstorms are likely. More thunderstorms are possible on Friday afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. The weekend should feature improving weather conditions with slightly lower temperatures and somewhat drier air. Our only forecast concern revolves around the speed with which the cold front passes through the region. Our best estimate is that it will become a bit drier on Saturday and noticeably drier on Sunday. Today's official high temperature in Washington was 90 degrees. This is the 11th time this year temperatures have reached 90 degrees or higher.
