It’s back to the dangerous combination of heat and humidity today as temperatures climb to record challenging levels near 100 degrees. When the humidity is factored in it will feel like 100 to 105 degrees later this afternoon during the peak heat of the day. A Heat Advisory will go into effect at 11 AM and last through 9 PM for the entire viewing and listening areas. There is a slight chance (20%) that we may see a few widely separated thundershowers pop up in places later this afternoon and evening but they would be hit or miss. With that said there is plenty of moisture in the atmosphere so any showers or storms that do manage to fire could produce locally heavy rain.
This will quiet down quickly during the overnight with slowly cooling temperatures that will drop into the mid-70s in the suburbs to low 80s closer to D.C. The weekend remains in fine shape with both days featuring partly cloudy skies with highs in the low to mid 90s. While it will remain hot both temperatures and humidity drop a bit in response to a more northwesterly flow.
~ Have a good day and weekend!
