Unsettled weather courtesy of an area of low pressure followed by a cold front may have you reconsidering your outdoor activities for the remainder of the weekend. Scattered showers and thunderstorm development will ease slightly during the overnight hours as temperatures fall into the upper 60s to middle 70s closer to the District. By sunrise, rain and thunderstorm action will increase. Some cells may contain gusty winds and periods of very heavy rain.
Sunday afternoon will bring not so sunny skies. Periods of rain and imbedded thunderstorms will continue to dot ABC7's Live Super Doppler. Heaviest rain totals are expected across the Shenandoah Valley with local amounts exceeding 2-inches. The District and surrounding suburbs have about a 90% chance of picking up at least one-inch of rain, if not more. A cold front will finally clear the region early Monday keeping a chance for a few showers in the forecast. Tuesday and Wednesday look great.
