Minnesota public schools closed Monday due to dangerous cold

(WJLA) - Every public elementary, middle and high school in the state of Minnesota will be closed Monday as temperatures are expected to plunge to dangerous levels.

KSTP reports that Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton announced that every K-12 public school in Minnesota will be closed on a day when highs are only supposed to reach -15.

That doesn't even factor in wind chill, which in some spots could reach an unprecedented -50.

School hasn't been closed in Minnesota for cold weather since 1997, KSTP says.
