A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for many parts of the greater Washington metro area.

The watch begins at 3 p.m. Wednesday. It effects the following areas:

District of Columbia Washington Maryland Anne Arundel, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Washington, Allegany, Howard, Montgomery, Baltimore and Prince George's counties Virginia Frederick, Augusta, Clarke, Fairfax, Loudoun, Page, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Warren and Fairfax counties

Wednesday's spring-like temperatures are expected to give way to showers and the potential for thunderstorms and high winds at night.

ABC7's Jacqui Jeras says that the brunt of the storm will likely pass through the area between 8 p.m. and midnight Wednesday and that as much as an inch of rain could fall in a short period of time.

Make sure to stay ahead of the storm on the ABC7 weather page, by downloading the Stormwatch 7 iPhone and Android app and liking the weather team's Facebook page.
