It is yet another stiflingly humid morning in the Nation's Capital as we continue suffering through the heat wave that began five days ago.{ } And while the daytime highs have broken no records, topping out at 97 on Wednesday, the nighttime lows in the city could be historic.{ }{ }By not{ }dipping below 80 degrees for four straight{ }days, the all-time record has been tied; if this morning's low is another 80 degree{ }or above{ }reading, a record high minimum streak will be set.

With a cold front still well to our north and the ridge of high heat and humidity still in place, we can expect a day with partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the low to mid 90s, high humidity, and a chance of scattered thunderstorms, some of which could be severe.{ } The front will likely stall over the area tomorrow, bringing more clouds than sunshine, a greater likelihood of showers, and highs around 90.{ } Unfortunately, the retreat of that front to the north will mean humid air will largely stay in place through much of the coming week.{ } A stronger front on Wednesday into Thursday could bring drier and somewhat cooler air to the area.{ } Until then, very warm, muggy days with threats of thunderstorms will prevail.{ } However, daytime highs will be closer to the 89 degree seasonal norm, a silver lining not to be dismissed lightly after our week-long sizzle!{ } Enjoy your weekend.
