A powerful cold front is pushing east of the metro area tomorrow morning. In fact there was a 9° temperature drop in one hour Downtown between just before 4am!
Our "high" temperature today was met just after midnight as seen here:
After some brief sunshine early this morning, but the sky will become mostly cloudy and we may see some sprinkles and or some snowflakes, but nothing of consequence locally. (Blizzard Warnings meanwhile remain in place for western MD, parts of WV and PA.) The winds will be gusty, too, especially in the afternoon.
Higher winds are expected on Saturday with gusts to 55 mph, hence the High Wind Watch. By Sunday, the winds will end early and the sky will be partly cloudy skies and seasonable highs in the middle 40s. It still appears possible that a weak disturbance could cross the area on Christmas Eve and produce a few showers or even snowflakes mixed in late in the day and at night. By Christmas Day, that disturbance will exit, leaving us with a partly sunny sky and seasonable temperatures in the mid 40s. Have a great weekend!
