The next weather system to affect our area is already producing a widespread overcast throughout a large part of the mid-Atlantic. It’s a cold front and as it slowly advances across the mountains, the metro area, the Chesapeake Bay and eventually the Atlantic coast, periods of rain will be likely. Right now, we believe the rain will begin overnight and not totally end until later tomorrow afternoon or evening. Rainfall totals could average between one-half and three-quarters of an inch. Isolated spots could receive 1 inch or slightly more. Temperatures will remain quite mild through the event, as well.Forecast rainfall from our Microcast Product
On Wednesday, west/northwesterly winds will deliver slightly cooler and drier air to the region. And partly cloudy and seasonably cool air will remain in place through Saturday. An upper level weather disturbance could bring showers to the region on Saturday but we are not forecasting a rainy day.
