D.C. Weather Forecast: Showers still possible through Wednesday

      Tonight: Cloudy Skies, Stray Showers

      Lows: 30s to near 40 | Wind: N 5-10 m.p.h.

      Tuesday: Scattered Showers

      Highs: Low 40s | Precipitation: 70%

      Wednesday: Morning Rain, PM Clearing

      Highs: Upper 40s | Precipitation: 40%

Temperatures will fall slowly for the rest of the day and through tonight, as colder northerly winds develop behind the cold front that passed through the area earlier today. The cold front will continue to move south and east of Washington but is not expected to move all that far south and east. A couple areas of low pressure may move along the front which will become stationary for the next 48 hours. These disturbances will generate areas of rain tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night and Wednesday morning.

      Past Inauguration Day Weather

Current model guidance suggests high pressure will become more dominant Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. This is the reasoning behind our forecast of partly cloudy and seasonably cold weather. Some models are hinting that storm system may try to develop along the Delmarva coastline on Friday. If that indeed happens, we may have to change our forecast for later on Friday and Saturday. Seasonably coldnot bitterly coldweather is expected to be in place for Inauguration Day and beyond.
