      A clear but cool day on tap for the D.C. area, the "calm" before the storm if you will.{} The chilly conditions are already in place helping to set the stage for what will be an interesting middle of the week.{} As we potentially face our heaviest snow storm in 2 years (which isn't necessarily saying much), there are a few issues that help make this a challenge for forecasters.{} Computer models are still inconsistent, timing... the period of rain/snow mix will greatly impact our snowfall totals, and there will be a rather sharp line between the snow and no snow, so there will be a wide range of forecast zones for this storm.{} Here's our best estimate in terms of probabilities as of 10a.m. on Monday.{}{}{}

      Snow Probabilities for D.C. Metro

      Please keep in mind that this forecast can and may very well change as we get closer to the onset of the storm.{} Also note, that some areas will be all snow and the probabilites of heavier snow is great for Dulles, Western Loudon, Northern Fauquier, Northern Montgomery, Frederick {}etc.. basically{} most areas North and West of D.C.{}Storm is still in the Midwest right now.{} After the Wednesday Wallop, we will be cold and breezy on Thursday, but warmer, springlike conditions are back for this coming weekend.{}
