High pressure kept conditions clear and chilly today across the region. The high pressure center will move out tonight. This will allow some cloudiness to start returning later tonight and will allow areas of light rain to affect the area during tomorrow morning’s commute.{ } The weather system that will impact us tomorrow morning is currently over the Midwest.

Temperatures will be close to freezing tomorrow morning, so rain and snow are a possibility. Right now it appears the precipitation will be light and the best chances for frozen or freezing precipitation will be north and west of Washington. As the morning progresses, any icy issues should quickly resolve, as gusty, warmer winds develop ahead of the next cold front. Scattered rain showers will be possible during the day as temperatures near 50 degrees. Cold weather delivered by gusty winds will return for the rest of the week. Another area of low pressure may affect our area on Friday. It is too early to tell if the Friday system will be all rain or if we will be dealing, once again, with the dreaded, wintry mix.
