D.C. Weather Forecast: Bitter Cold Now, Not For Long

      Record low temperatures, in the single digits, greeted us this morning.{} Despite brilliant sunshine today, highs will only climb climb to around 5 degrees in northwest parts of the area to around 15 degrees downtown.{}{} It will still remain quite windy through the early afternoon, so wind chills will still be, at times, below 0 degrees.{} The good news is the effect from this Polar Vortex will be short lived.{} Temperatures will start to moderate over the next several days.{}

      Winds will diminish overnight and turn southerly.{} It will still be cold overnight with temperatures in the single digits, but with lighter winds, the wind chill will not be as big a factor.{} Tomorrow will still be cold, but certainly not as bad as today, with highs around the freezing mark.{} High temperatures will reach the lower 40s by the end of the week and then the 50s by the weekend, as rain chances re-enter the forecast.{} Stay warm!
