D.C. Weather Forecast: Bitter Cold Now, Not For Long

Record low temperatures, in the single digits, greeted us this morning.{ } Despite brilliant sunshine today, highs will only climb climb to around 5 degrees in northwest parts of the area to around 15 degrees downtown.{ }{ } It will still remain quite windy through the early afternoon, so wind chills will still be, at times, below 0 degrees.{ } The good news is the effect from this Polar Vortex will be short lived.{ } Temperatures will start to moderate over the next several days.{ }

Winds will diminish overnight and turn southerly.{ } It will still be cold overnight with temperatures in the single digits, but with lighter winds, the wind chill will not be as big a factor.{ } Tomorrow will still be cold, but certainly not as bad as today, with highs around the freezing mark.{ } High temperatures will reach the lower 40s by the end of the week and then the 50s by the weekend, as rain chances re-enter the forecast.{ } Stay warm!
