Flooding, water rescues, downed trees, and power outages kept crews busy as storms moved through the area Sunday night.
Firefighters rescued a man whose car became stranded in flash flooding on Upshur Streets in Bladensburg. Rescue crews quickly pulled the man to safety. No injuries were reported.
The heavy rains caused high water outside the Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg.
Some people who ran for cover from the downpour were stranded in their cars last night.
A few even climbed to the roof and waited for help, but no one was injured.
In Glen Dale, a large tree crashed through the roof of a home in the 10000 block of Franklin Street around 11 p.m. Sunday, causing major damage and leaving a family displaced.
Prince George’s County officials say no one was injured.
Adding insult to injury, the storms also left homes and businesses across our area in the dark.
At last check, Pepco listed 2787 customers without power Monday afternoon in the county. At the same time, outages in Montgomery County and had dropped to below 500 after overnight storms. Dominion Power listed about 100 customers out in the Northern Virginia area, down from about 1,000 earlier Monday.
