As an area of low pressure moves off the North Carolina coast, high pressure will build into the area today bringing sunny skies and breezy conditions. Later this afternoon, some gusts may exceed 30 miles per hour. With the passage of a cold front, daytime highs should occur midday.
Winds will ease slightly overnight as temperatures plummet to the upper 20s and lower 30s. A Freeze Watch has been issued for the District and surrounding counties, with the exception of southern Maryland. A Freeze Warning has been posted for western Maryland, Potomac Highlands and Shenandoah Valley. Frost will not be a problem due to winds.
It will be sunny and cool (compared to temperatures this month) on Tuesday with highs in the middle 50s. Warmer air arrives briefly Wednesday with the passing a cold front late day. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible as the system moves across the region.
