Important forecast note for extreme western Maryland: A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for Garrett and western Allegany counties in Maryland for Sunday night into Monday. Six or more inches of heavy, wet snow may fall with wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
An area of low pressure is expected to ride the east coast bringing beneficial rain and cooler temperatures to the area. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s with wind chills in the 30s and 40s. Rains totals, especially east of Interstate 95 may exceed two-inches. Like most coastal storms, any fluctuation to the west would mean more rain for D.C, further east would temper rain totals.
As the system rotates toward the northeast, the wind will increase for the day Monday. A few scattered showers will remain with a chance for heavy snow across the western Maryland.
