After a long stretch of nearly snow-free winters, the prospect of a snowy day early in this winter has us riveted!{ } Mother Nature is poised to send in the entire gamut of wintry precipitation as we are expecting snow to overspread the region this morning to be followed and joined by sleet and freezing rain.{ } There is a Winter Storm Warning for counties north and west of DC from 8 AM today until 10AM on Monday.{ } Upwards of 3 inches of snow and a quarter inch of ice are possible in the Warning areas.{ } For DC{ }and areas to the east, a Winter Weather Advisory for about an inch of snow and one-tenth of an inch of ice is in effect from 8 AM today until 7 AM tomorrow.{ } The changeover to freezing rain is expected in the afternoon hours and will continue well into the night.{ } As temperatures rise near dawn, some of the freezing rain will change to all rain.

Monday is expected to be a rainy day with highs near 40, but the threat of snow returns Monday night and Tuesday before high pressure arrives at midweek.{ } Thereafter mostly sunny, but very cold days will lead to the weekend when yes, there is another chance of snow.{ } After our long snow drought, perhaps{ }our fortunes are{ }about to change!{ } Be careful and enjoy your day!
