Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight as temperatures fall into the upper 30s in the mountains to middle to upper 40s in the District and close surrounding counties. Clouds will increase Monday as a cold front approaches the region. Winds will increase with gusts around the 35 mile per hour range. Showers will be limited to just around 30-percent during the late afternoon and early evening hours as daytime high climb into the upper 60s to lower 70s. Areas of heavier rain will occur late Monday night into early Tuesday morning with as much as a quarter-inch possible, especially in the mountains.
Once the front passes, cooler air will settle across the area. Highs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will only be in the middle to upper 50s. Warmer temperatures are expected next weekend.
