It didn't cause anyone to break a sweat, but the thermometer finally rose above freezing yesterday!{ }{ }After falling below 32 last Tuesday morning, it was over 4 days before finally hitting 33 late yesterday afternoon.{ } The daily high was eventually 35 degrees, making for the "mildest" day since last Monday but still far below the seasonal norm of 44.

We are back in the icebox today with temperatures in the 20s and heading for the low 30s.{ } And while the gusty winds of yesterday and overnight have subsided considerably, today is still a breezy day, making the upper 20s feel that that much colder.{ } Look for skies to turn increasingly cloudy this afternoon with the possibility of a few snow flurries. Temperatures will not fall much this evening as winds shift to the southwest and a cold front approaches from the northwest. Tomorrow will feature strong winds, falling temperatures, and the chance of snow mixing with a bit of rain as another dose of bitterly cold air returns to the DC area.{ } The mercury will fall to near 10 on Monday night and stay in the dangerously cold single digit-teen{ }range right on through Wednesday.{ } Some moderation is possible by week's end with highs on Friday and Saturday in the upper 30s and low 40s.{ } So stay bundled up as we face yet another challenging week in this unrelenting Winter of 2014.
