For the second time this week, the temperature soared to 70+ degrees at Reagan National and even a few degrees warmer at other locations. Today looks like another great day with a mix of clouds and sun. We will make it above 70 degrees again in most areas away from the water. This will make the 3rd time this week will have reached 70 degrees or higher at Reagan, the official reporting station for Washington D.C. (It is interesting to note if you add up all the times it has hit 70 degrees during February in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 there were a total of 3 days. We’ll have that many this week!)

By tonight, however, a cold front will march through the area, shifting our winds to northwesterly. This will usher in much cooler weather for the weekend (but still above average) with highs in the 50s. Watch for the high winds on Saturday in the wake of the front as there could be gusts to 40+ mph. The winds will ease a bit for Sunday. The good news is that, even with the cool-down, readings will still be above average this weekend and we’ll see a good deal of sun. Late Sunday clouds increase ahead of our next warm front, with a sprinkle possible. While President’s Day may not feature much sunshine, it will be mild with highs near 60 degrees.

Have a great weekend.
