High pressure continues to be anchored off the Carolina Coast and it continues to pump very warm air over most of the mid-Atlantic. The temperature hit 90 degrees at Reagan National Airport just before 3 pm. This broke the existing record high temperature of 89 degrees, set on this date in 1922. Temperatures will drop no lower than the 60s tonight. In fact, inside the beltway, low temperatures may be above the average high temperature for the date. Crazy! It will be cooler tomorrow and noticeably cooler on Friday with passage of a significant cold front. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will accompany the front early Friday morningrain for the morning rush is likely. But skies will clear later in the afternoon and the weekend looks beautiful.in a more seasonable way. We are forecasting mostly sunny skies with highs in the middle to upper 60s on Saturday and in the middle 60s on Sunday. Another warming trend will begin on Monday.
