      High pressure will hold on to the region today with mostly sunny skies and temperatures around average near 50 degrees. Clouds will be on the increase tonight with lows in the 20s in the far western suburbs to mid 30s inside the Beltway.

      An area of low pressure will move into the D.C. area Tuesday. At the onset of precipitation, a light wintry mix of snow and sleet will be possible, but precipitation will quickly turn over to moderate or at times heavy rain east of the Blue Ridge. West of the Blue Ridge for the Shenandoah Valley and Allegheny mountains, a wintry mix will hang on a bit longer, but precipitation should still change to rain by Tuesday afternoon and{ }evening. A Winter Storm Watch is posted for the mountains in West Virginia mainly for the threat of freezing rain in the sheltered valleys.

      Wednesday will be warmer with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 50s. A few stray showers are possible. Thursday and Friday will be partly sunny and cooler with highs in the mid to upper 40s.
