High pressure will is moving out of the area. It is atmospherically opening the door to the approach of the next cold front. This front is associated with a strong winter storm pushing through the Central Plains and Upper Midwest. Rain ahead of the front will arrive tomorrow afternoon or evening and will be steady and perhaps briefly heavy at times. By Friday morning, the front will cross the Chesapeake Bay. Skies will slowly become partly sunny. And it will become quite windy by afternoon with scattered flurries possible.

If this, in fact, happens skies will become cloudy and scattered showers could affect the area. Looking ahead to Christmas Day, we are confidently forecasting a partly cloudy day with seasonable high temperatures in the middle 40s.
