Gusty winds and occasional cloud cover have kept temperatures a bit on the cool side today. Winds will diminish tonight as high pressure starts to build into the region and temperatures will drop, by morning, into the middle 30s to middle 40s across the area. Partly cloudy and milder conditions will develop tomorrow with afternoon temperatures climbing into the upper 60s. On Thursday, a morning warm front and afternoon cold front will produce a typical spring day – partly cloudy, breezy and warm weather with a chance of late day showers and thunderstorms…a 70% chance.
By Friday morning, the cold front will move south of the area. It now appears the front will only make it as far south as southside Virginia and become stationary. In these patterns, we often see small disturbances, waves of low pressure, move along that stationary boundary resulting in partly to mostly cloudy skies with chances of showers. And that is our forecast for Friday and Saturday. Right now, we believe high pressure will become strong enough by Sunday to keep any shower chances well south of our area.
