Periods of rain...not much, but we'll take it

TODAY: Cloudy and cool with periods of rain

Highs: 56°-61° | Wind: N 5-10

OVERNIGHT: Gradual clearing

Lows: 46°-54° | Wind: Light

TOMORROW: Becoming mostly sunny and warmer

Highs: Near 70° | Wind: S 5-10

An area of low pressure moving south of our area will spread periods of mostly light rain across the region on Wednesday. Temperatures will be well below average.

An area of high pressure north of{ }Washington will help force the rain off to the east by this evening. The next couple days will be beautiful with lots of sunshine and mild temperatures. The mercury will hit 70 degrees tomorrow and will climb through the upper 70s on Friday.

While today's rain will be a drop in the bucket compared to the 5-inch deficit we are running, the prospects of weekend rain might actually do some good. Computer models have been pretty consistent forecasting a low pressure and cold front combo affecting the region.

I think we will see some sunshine and warm weather for a while on Saturday but the chances of rain will steadily increase later Saturday, Saturday night and through the day on Sunday. Again, the timing is not ideal but the rain is really important to get in the ground this time of year.
