This last Sunday of Standard Time - we Spring Forward next Sunday morning to Daylight Saving Time{ }- dawned cloudy and cool with some light showers over southern Maryland.{ } And while{ }partly sunny skies have developed,{ }today{ }is noticeably cooler than Saturday when the high reached 63 at Reagan National - although{ }it felt cooler with the winds gusting to 29 mph.{ } Today's highs should hover around the 50 degree mark and sustained winds of 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts{ }will make it feel chillier once again.

With a fast-moving clipper system likely to pass just south of the D.C.area tomorrow - and with chilly temperatures in place - a mix of rain and snow is possible in the late morning/early afternoon hours.

Most of any accumulating snow is likely to fall in the lower Potomac Highlands and in southwestern Virginia, but the proximity of the wintry mix and our lack of any significant snow this season, is a cause for some excitement - and a reminder that we are still in astronomical winter until March 20, the date of the spring equinox!

Fear not, though, as meteorological spring{ }is set to reassert itself{ }at midweek with highs again in the mid to upper 60s. Enjoy your Sunday.
