Prince George's County Police investigate fatal accident

(WJLA) - A man was killed early Tuesday morning in Upper Marlboro when he lost control of his car and crashed, authorities say.

The crash happened at about 4:15 a.m. near the intersection of Tam-O-Shanter Drive and Fairhaven Avenue, Prince George's County Police say, where the victim's car was found off the roadway.

An investigation revealed that the driver may have been speeding while going northbound on Tam-O-Shanter when he lost control, left the road and hit both a tree and a fence. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

While speed appears to be a factor, weather does not; Tuesday's snow in Prince George's County had not started at the time of the accident.
