Metro will stay open an extra hour Sunday night for the Delta Sigma Theta centennial celebrations at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and Verizon Center.
The Mt Vernon Sq/Convention Center and Gallery Place stations will stay open until 12:50 a.m. Riders taking advantage of the extra hour of service should enter the stations no later than 12:50 a.m. to make the last trains.
Entrances at other Metro stations will close at their normal times, but riders will be able to exit at all stations during the extra hour of service.
Free shuttle buses will replace trains between the NoMa-Gallaudet and Silver Spring stations on the Red Line. Three stations - Rhode Island Ave., Brookland and Takoma - will be closed for track work.
Riders along the eastern leg of the Red Line are encouraged to use the Green or Yellow line as an alternate route between Fort Totten and downtown Washington.
The extended service is funded by an agreement with Washington Convention and Sports Authority.
