A new study by Metro and the Urban Institute has concluded that security cameras at Metro parking facilities aren't making any difference in fighting crime.
The Washington Examiner reports, though, that Metro will continue to use the cameras at Metro's 42 parking garages and lots.
The study was undertaken to see how effective cameras would be in deterring crime, but only about one-third of the cameras in the system were active at any given time.
According to the study, no "concrete information" was found about whether WMATA was using photos taken by the cameras in investigations.
