WASHINGTON (AP) — Tired of broken Metro escalators? Bothered by constant rail work and other inconveniences?
Metro officials on Thursday unveiled a new information campaign aimed at keeping riders up to speed about an ongoing effort to rebuild the 35-year-old transit system.
Metro says it's relying on social networks and a redesigned website, metroopendoors.com, to spread the word about the ongoing capital campaign. The site provides a series of bullet-point facts, including that Metro is investing more than $5 billion in more than a hundred projects.
The information campaign is called "Metro Forward" and was announced as part of national "Dump the Pump Day," which encourages travelers to avoid driving and high gas prices.
