Metro bag checks netted no arrests over past 18 months, report says
Metro's much publicized bag search program, which was put into place to step up safety throughout the transit system, didn't result in a single arrest over the past year and a half, WTOP reports.
According to a WTOP public records request, authorities have made no arrests since the random search system began in December of 2010.
The program, which is funded by a Homeland Security grant and is done in conjunction with the Transportation Security Administration, will go on as normal, according to Metro Transit Police Chief Michael Taborn.
