WASHINGTON (WJLA) - The Virginia Department of Transportation says it has increased its number of crews to combat icy road conditions expected for Sunday night and into Monday morning.
Spokesperson Joan Morris says there are more than 2,000 trucks on the roads. They're paying close attention to ramps, overpasses and bridges - which are generally slick spots for motorists.
VDOT officials are urging people in Northern Virginia to stay put Sunday night as roads are expected to get icy and dangerous. They also say they're monitoring the forecast and will keep crews on the clock through rush hour Monday morning.
