Air travel expected to increase this summer, report says

more than 26 million people are expected to travel globally in the next three months.

With just a few short weeks left until the unofficial start of summer, a big travel season - especially in the air - is being predicted.

The new summer travel forecast, which was released Wednesday by the Airlines for America association, has a double benefit for both the airlines and travelers. They say flights can still be found for a bargain, and despite higher airfares across the board, planes will be full.

According to the association's projections, more than 26 million people are expected to travel globally in the next three months, which is up from last year. It includes a record number of people who are vacationing internationally.

Airlines for America also claims that air travel can still be found at a relative bargain because prices have not kept pace with the inflation rate.

The good news isn't limited to the skies. The report predicts that the recent decline in gas prices will also be beneficial. With more money in traveler's pockets, families may now be willing to spend more on things like flights.
